Bing Chen, founder of the entertainment advocacy organisation Gold House, is launching Gold House Studios to move beyond advising on Asian-led projects and into producing films and television himself. Since founding Gold House in 2017, Chen has built an influential behind-the-scenes network supporting films such as Crazy Rich Asians, Parasite and Everything Everywhere All at Once, advising studios, investing in Asian and Pacific Islander-founded businesses, and connecting filmmakers, executives and stars.

The 38-year-old, who is not an agent, executive or (until recently) producer, says the new studio marks a shift from championing others' work to making his own. Gold House has grown from a grassroots movement into an organisation studios actively call on, exemplified by its annual Gold Gala at Los Angeles' Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, now nicknamed the "Asian Met Gala", which honours achievement within the Asian and Pacific Islander community.
