Devolver Digital decides video games and publicly traded companies don’t mix, announces plan to go private once again to save it some money and headache
Devolver Digital has announced plans to return to private ownership, arguing that remaining publicly listed brings unnecessary cost and administrative burden. The move matters because it would remove the indie game publisher from the public market and give it greater freedom to operate without the demands of listed-company reporting and investor scrutiny.
The company floated on London’s AIM market in 2021, but has since faced a more difficult trading environment for games businesses. Its proposal would take the company private again in an effort to save money and reduce management time spent on public-company obligations, subject to the required shareholder and regulatory approvals.
