The Avalanches Announce New Album Honoring ‘Commercial Jingles, Proprietary Start-Up Sounds & Long Forgotten Audio Logos’

Billboard · 1 month ago

The Avalanches have announced their fourth studio album, No Bad Memories, due out on 16 October, marking their first full-length release since 2020's We Will Always Love You. The Australian electronic group say the record explores the "magical and insidious ways" advertising and branded technology embed themselves in memory, describing it as an "ambivalent ode" to commercial jingles, start-up sounds and forgotten audio logos.

The announcement coincides with the release of a new single, "Can't Get Over Losing You", featuring vocals from Louisiana artist-producer Portraits of Tracy, following earlier tracks "Together" (with Nikki Nair, Jessy Lanza and Prentiss), "Every Single Weekend" (with Jamie xx) and "Blue Shadows" (with Karen O). The album, released via Modular Recordings, will run to 31 tracks in total, though the remaining 27 song titles have yet to be revealed.
