Sam Neill to Play Role in Sony Pictures’ Legend of Zelda Movie, Dichen Lachman and Yvonne Strahovski Also Confirmed
Sony Pictures' upcoming Legend of Zelda film has reportedly gained several new cast members, including a posthumous appearance from the late Sam Neill, alongside confirmed roles for Dichen Lachman and Yvonne Strahovski. The casting news, first reported by Deadline, comes as the long-awaited video game adaptation continues to take shape ahead of its 2027 release, with details of Neill's character still unknown.
Lachman is confirmed to play Impa, matching earlier leaked set footage, while Strahovski will portray an unnamed "queen" character. They join previously announced stars Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link, Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda, and Uli Latukefu as villain Ganondorf. Neill, best known for Jurassic Park and Peaky Blinders, died suddenly on 13 July 2026 aged 78; Sony and Nintendo have not commented on the casting reports. The film is scheduled for release on 30 April 2027.
