Teen shot twice while driving through Sydney streets in terrifying ambush
An 18-year-old man is in hospital with serious injuries after being shot twice in the chest during an ambush while driving through Greenacre in Sydney's south-west on Thursday night. The attack has raised concerns given the victim's reported associations with the Alameddine crime family, though police have not confirmed whether this connection was linked to the motive, with officers noting it could instead have been an unrelated dispute.
Police were called to Mimosa Street shortly before 9pm after neighbours reported hearing gunshots, with the shooting itself understood to have taken place on nearby Banksia Street before the victim was driven to Mimosa Street, where he was found by emergency services. A Skoda SUV used to transport him was seized for forensic testing and its driver questioned by detectives. Hours later, in the early hours of Friday, a burnt-out Toyota Hilux was found engulfed in flames on Celia Street in Granville, which police are treating as linked to the shooting, bringing the total number of crime scenes to three. Investigators have appealed to the public for dashcam or CCTV footage via Crime Stoppers.
