Hear Sierra Ferrell’s Psychedelic New Song, ‘Trying To Love You’

Rolling Stone · 2 days ago

Country-roots singer Sierra Ferrell has released her first new single of 2026, "Trying to Love You," blending country, old-time and New Orleans jazz influences with a psychedelic edge reminiscent of Jefferson Airplane. Produced by Gabriel Kelly, the track marks a fresh musical step for the Nashville-based artist, who has built her reputation on genre-blurring sounds and elaborate, theatrical live shows.

The song has already become a live favourite on Ferrell's ongoing Heavy Petal tour, which continues in Dillon, Colorado, on 11 August before a second sold-out date at Red Rocks Amphitheater. Ferrell has spent the past two years touring behind her acclaimed 2024 album Trail of Flowers, which won four Grammys in 2025 and was named Rolling Stone's country album of the year; she also made her Saturday Night Live debut alongside Mumford and Sons. She described her broader aim as bridging older and newer musical genres for listeners.
