Earth, Wind & Fire cancelled their scheduled San Francisco concert with Lionel Richie at the Chase Center on 6 August after a medical emergency involving an unnamed band member. The late cancellation disrupted thousands of fans and will be rescheduled, with existing tickets remaining valid or refundable.

The venue reportedly issued cancellation notices at about 7.20pm and 7.30pm, requiring people inside and outside the arena to leave. The band gave no details of the illness; it is the latest disruption to the tour after Richie, 77, shortened a June performance following a dizzy spell, though the next date is scheduled for Palm Desert on 8 August.
