Celtic manager Martin O’Neill has left hospital after undergoing a small procedure, but assistant Shaun Maloney says there is no fixed timetable for his return. O’Neill will decide whether he is fit to be in the dugout for Sunday’s Scottish Premiership match at Kilmarnock, with Maloney ready to take charge if necessary.

The 74-year-old was discharged on Thursday and was said to be in much better spirits after missing training preparations. O’Neill led Celtic to last season’s league and cup double before signing a one-year contract, and began the new campaign with Monday’s 1-0 win over Dundee; Maloney also expects Arne Engels and Alistair Johnston to remain available, while no new signing is anticipated before Sunday.
