Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor marked Quake’s 30th anniversary with a surprise video message at QuakeCon and a limited-edition merchandise release. The tribute highlights Reznor’s longstanding connection to id Software and his contribution to the influential 1996 game’s soundtrack and sound design.

Reznor recalled buying a PC to play Wolfenstein and praised Doom and Quake as unusually creative, technologically significant games. The merchandise includes clothing, a musical keychain and a replica ammunition box; many items sold out quickly in the US, while the full collection remained available for pre-order in the UK. Bethesda also released a new 19-map Quake campaign, Dawn of the Machines, for the anniversary.
