‘The Odyssey’ and ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Power $239 Million U.K., Ireland July Box Office
Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” and “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” helped drive the U.K. and Ireland box office to £178.2 million ($239.7 million) in July, a record monthly total and 35% above the equivalent five-week period in 2025. The result signals strong cinema demand, led by major franchise and event releases, and has pushed year-to-date takings above $1.05 billion.
“The Odyssey” led July with £56.2 million ($75.6 million) after three weeks, becoming 2026’s highest-grossing film so far and putting it on course to be Nolan’s biggest U.K. release. “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” was second with $71.3 million, including a $49 million opening, while “Toy Story 5” added $28 million to take third place; annual U.K. grosses are 18% ahead of 2025 and 34% ahead of 2024.
