Kurupt has said that Eminem quietly helped fund his rehabilitation treatment during a severe period of alcoholism, with Dr. Dre also offering personal support. The revelation highlights a private act of assistance between prominent rappers, particularly because Eminem has spoken publicly about his own experience of addiction and recovery.

Kurupt said alcoholism had previously left him in a coma for three weeks. He recalled Dr. Dre contacting him first, before passing on Eminem’s offer to arrange discreet rehabilitation and contribute money towards it; Kurupt said the support was especially meaningful. He is now focused on recovery and new music, having released Tales From My Hood with DJ Battlecat in late July and preparing another collaborative project, The Godbody, for release on 14 September.
