He defended the decision by arguing that artists must adapt to technology, comparing AI’s emergence to the initial controversy around Auto-Tune, while saying the music should ultimately be judged by the experience it gives listeners.

The rapper said AI helped supply specific production elements, such as 1980s-style synths and a rapid guitar solo, but maintained that he wrote the songs and performed all vocals himself. $tarface had faced similar scrutiny to labelmate Fenix Flexin’s track “Rubberz”, amid wider debate over generative AI’s role in music-making.
