We thought we wouldn’t write about Overwatch characters anymore but D.Mon looks too sick not to
Blizzard is adding D.Mon as Overwatch’s 53rd playable hero and 15th tank when its new season launches on 11 August. The character, previously seen in a 2018 animated short as part of D.Va’s MEKA Squad, matters because she expands the game’s tank roster with a mech-based playstyle that differs substantially from D.Va’s.
D.Mon pilots a mech called Beast, using fuel-limited boosters, a machine gun, an energy sword and a defensive barrier. If Beast is destroyed, D.Mon ejects and can rebuild it through an ultimate charged by dealing damage; her in-mech ultimate is a sweeping sword attack that grants overhealth and increases damage enemies receive. Blizzard says the design draws on Gundam and FromSoftware’s Armored Core series, while her abilities combine elements reminiscent of D.Va, Reinhardt and other existing heroes.
- D.Mon joins Overwatch on 11 August.
- She is the game’s 53rd hero and 15th tank.
- Her mech-focused kit combines mobility, shielding and melee attacks.
