Scotland beat Canada to reach World Cup Qualifier

BBC Sport ·

Scotland secured a place at next year’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier by beating Canada by nine runs in a tense League 2 match at Forthill. The result means Canada can no longer catch Scotland in the standings, making the victory significant despite a late Canadian recovery.

Fin McCreath made 112, his first international century, as Scotland posted 281-7 from 50 overs. Canada reached 272 in 49.2 overs, with Yuvraj Samra scoring 78 and Ansh Patel and captain Saad Bin Zafar adding 84 for the eighth wicket; George Munsey took the decisive catch with four balls remaining. It was the first completed match of the tri-series involving the United Arab Emirates after two rain-affected washouts.
