Epic Games has confirmed that Fortnite players will retain their sprite collections when Chapter 7 Season 4 begins, with additional sprites joining the game. The decision matters because sprites became a major progression feature in Season 3, although some players have criticised their collection requirements as overly time-consuming and driven by fear of missing out.

Sprites are collectible creatures that grant perks, earn experience through gameplay, and can be levelled up; successful extraction or a match win preserves progress and awards Sprite Dust for rewards. Season 4, themed around Gaming Legends, will add the Sprite Garden island, where existing sprites will remain accessible, and include five fan-designed sprites with effects such as extra ammunition, loot gathering, defensive bees, improved movement, and brief wall-penetrating player detection.
