Britons make their biggest life changes – including moving abroad, swapping careers or starting a business – in their thirties, survey reveals

Daily Mail ·

A survey by Vodafone Three suggests Britons make their biggest life changes during their thirties, with moving abroad, switching careers, starting businesses and launching side hustles all clustering around ages 31 to 34. The findings highlight how this decade has become a focal point for ambition, with four in ten respondents saying they felt more driven than ever at 30, and 85 per cent working towards a major life goal, though many delay acting on these ambitions.

The poll of 2,000 Britons found people wait an average of two years before pursuing their goals, leaving a fifth with regrets about not acting sooner. Money worries were the top barrier (22 per cent), followed by low confidence (15 per cent), lack of time (13 per cent) and fear of failure (12 per cent). Major life events often prompted change, particularly bereavement (27 per cent), job loss (25 per cent) and becoming a parent (25 per cent), while improved digital connectivity was widely credited with making it easier to find opportunities and achieve goals.
