Counter-terrorism police have reopened an investigation into an alleged incendiary attack on Nigel Farage’s Greater London home after identifying a possible link relevant to their inquiry into Ann Widdecombe’s murder. Farage is reportedly horrified that a potential line of inquiry in the 2025 case was not pursued earlier, while the police watchdog is independently examining the conduct of a Counter Terrorism Policing London staff member.

The incident was reported in April 2025 as an attempted burglary; Farage said a device posted through his letterbox had burned out on the porch while he was away. Widdecombe, 78, died on 8 July after being attacked at her Devon home, and Joshua Kerry, 28, was charged with her murder on 20 July and remains in custody without entering a plea.
