An animal charity has warned that Sheffield is seeing an unprecedented number of abandoned cats and unplanned litters of kittens needing help. The increase is placing additional pressure on rescue and rehoming services, and highlights concerns about the welfare of cats whose owners cannot or do not arrange neutering.

The charity is urging owners to have their cats neutered to reduce unplanned pregnancies and the number of kittens entering care. It also appeals for public support as shelters face greater demand, with abandoned animals and unexpected litters requiring food, veterinary treatment, foster homes and permanent adopters.
