Watch: BRENT FITZ, Drummer For TRIUMPH And SLASH, Gets Part Of Winnipeg Street Named After Him
Canadian rock drummer Brent Fitz has been honoured in his hometown of Winnipeg, where part of Bellavista Crescent has been renamed Brent Fitz Way. The recognition celebrates his career with artists including Slash, Triumph and Alice Cooper, and the mayor said it showed local children that ambition and hard work can lead to major achievements.
The ceremony took place on 7 August in the Crestview neighbourhood where Fitz grew up, after he first learned of the proposal at a Triumph concert in May. Fitz described the honour as overwhelming and credited his family, friends and the musical community around his childhood home; he began training young, later moved to Los Angeles in the mid-1990s, and has since performed internationally and with several prominent rock acts.
