Netflix’s Newest Breakout Hit Is Officially Crowned #1 on Streaming

Collider · 4 hours ago

Netflix's new comedy 72 Hours has become the platform's most-watched film despite being panned by critics, illustrating how poor reviews don't necessarily stop a film becoming a streaming hit. The 105-minute dramedy, starring Kevin Hart alongside Mason Gooding and current Saturday Night Live cast members Marcello Hernández, Ben Marshall and Kam Patterson, follows a struggling forty-year-old executive who joins a group of twenty-somethings on a chaotic three-day bachelor party after being accidentally added to their group chat.

Critics have been scathing, giving 72 Hours a rating of just 14%, the lowest score of any Netflix film released this year, with reviewers criticising its derivative premise, which draws frequent comparisons to the far better-reviewed The Hangover (79%). Hart's performance has also drawn particular criticism, with reviewers arguing he continues to recycle the same comedic persona. Audiences have been somewhat more forgiving, awarding the film 48%, and despite the critical drubbing it has still topped Netflix's streaming charts.

  • Netflix's 72 Hours tops streaming charts despite dire reviews.
  • Critics gave it just 14%, its worst score of 2026 so far.
  • Stars Kevin Hart; compared unfavourably to The Hangover.
