Mojang has released Version 26.40 of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, a new update bringing bug fixes, gameplay improvements, accessibility updates and technical enhancements for content creators, alongside specific patches for the Nintendo Switch version. The release also lays groundwork for future content by including experimental features that players can try ahead of their full launch, and comes shortly after the announcement that Minecraft is heading to Switch 2 this October.

Notable fixes include boats requiring fewer hits to break and minecarts functioning correctly again, while the experimental features preview several new additions such as the Dappled Forest biome, Abandoned Camp structures, cushions, Poplar Trees and Red Shrub plants. The Abandoned Camp structure will appear across numerous biomes, each with its own thematic design and lootable chests, while the new Dappled Forest introduces Poplar Trees, Shelf Mushrooms and cold-variant passive mobs. A known issue remains where arrows shot downwards can get stuck in the player's own hitbox.
