Singer and musician Self Esteem, whose real name is Rebecca Lucy Taylor, has secured her first significant film role in Mountain, a Welsh coming-of-age drama set during the 1980s. The production features actors Peter Mullan and Iwan Rheon, with Welsh filmmaker Celyn Jones directing. The story follows a North Wales teenager who develops a meaningful relationship with a solitary mountain dweller, with composer Bill Ryder-Jones creating the original score. Filming has completed in Anglesey following a June start date.

Taylor's film appearance represents her continued pivot from music into acting, building on recent stage performances in London theatre productions and television work.
