The move marks an unusual marketing approach for Rockstar, giving the streaming giant's vast subscriber base early access to what is expected to be the most substantial GTA 6 reveal since the game's second trailer, though the decision has drawn criticism from those who see it as paywalling promotional content for a video game.

The extended look will premiere on Netflix on Thursday 27 August at 8pm UK time, becoming available on Rockstar's YouTube channel six hours later, at 2am UK time on 28 August. Zelnick declined to reveal specifics about the content or its length, but praised Netflix and predicted the reveal would attract huge attention "because everyone is" going to watch it, suggesting the event could resemble a full show or documentary rather than a conventional trailer.
