Celtic thrashed Kilmarnock 5-1 away at Rugby Park despite the absence of manager Martin O'Neill, who missed the game after a "small procedure" in hospital earlier in the week. New signing Kasper Høgh scored a first-half hat-trick, his first goals for the club, as Celtic made it two wins from two league games this season. Assistant manager Shaun Maloney said O'Neill was "doing better" and had visited the team hotel, but needed a few more days to recover.

Danish striker Høgh, who joined in July from Bodø/Glimt, scored inside a minute and added two more before half-time to put Celtic 3-0 up. Luke Nygren made it 4-0 shortly after the break before Michael Schjønning-Larsen pulled one back for Kilmarnock, and substitute Luke McCowan restored the four-goal cushion late on. Elsewhere in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday, Hearts hosted Dundee United after their opening-day loss to Aberdeen, while Motherwell faced Falkirk and Rangers played Hibernian at Ibrox.
