He argues that the museum's presentation of US history undermines the country he regards as the "greatest nation on earth", framing his objection partly through his own family history and racial identity to challenge what he sees as a one-sided, negative portrayal of America's past.

Jackson made his comments in a video interview with Fox News, in which he voiced disgust at what he characterised as the museum's ideological slant. The intervention comes amid a wider conservative debate over the Smithsonian, including scrutiny of its taxpayer funding and accusations from Republican figures that federally supported cultural institutions are pushing progressive or "woke" narratives rather than neutral historical accounts.
