Her remarks, posted on social media, prompted swift condemnation from Democrats, who accused her of bigotry and called on fellow Republicans to publicly denounce the comments as well.

In a Friday post on X, Mace wrote that "every single Muslim holding public office in America is a trojan horse, and a threat to both national security and our republic," adding "we refuse to be silent." Democratic representative Pramila Jayapal of Washington condemned the statement and urged Republican colleagues to do likewise, though it was not immediately reported whether senior GOP figures had responded to the call.
