RUSH bassist and singer Geddy Lee has described an eerie encounter with a bird that he associates with late drummer Neil Peart, who died in 2020. The story emerged just as the band launched their "Fifty Something" reunion tour, adding a poignant note to the return to the road for Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson without their long-time bandmate.

Speaking to Toronto radio host Joanne Wilder of Q107, Lee recounted finding a bird on the floor outside his hotel room in Los Angeles after the tour's opening night in early June, which resembled the departing bird depicted on the tour's promotional posters, a nod to Peart's absence alongside two other birds representing Lee and Lifeson. The bird flew into his room, perched on his bed and appeared to look at him before leaving, then reappeared briefly as he texted Lifeson about the incident. RUSH are now playing a four-night run in Toronto for a planned concert film, with their North American tour continuing until December, and a documentary, Neil Peart: No One's Disciple, due to air on CBC on 23 September.
