‘Paper Tiger’ Trailer: Adam Driver And Miles Teller Are Brothers In Harm’s Way In James Gray’s NYC Drama
Neon has released the trailer for Paper Tiger, a crime drama written and directed by James Gray, starring Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson and Miles Teller. The film, which premiered in competition at Cannes to a 10-minute standing ovation, is set for a limited US release on 13 November, positioning it firmly within the awards season conversation. It will first open the New York Film Festival at the end of September.
Set in Queens, New York, in 1986, the story follows brothers Gary (Driver), a former police officer, and Isaac (Teller), an engineer, who are drawn into a scheme involving the Russian mafia that endangers their family and their prospects of achieving the American Dream. Johansson plays Isaac's wife, who has her own struggles within the story. Gray has said the plot is loosely inspired by his own family's brush with the Russian mafia in 1980s New York, and Neon acquired the film shortly before Cannes added it as a late entry to its 2026 competition lineup.
