Accessory maker Genki is entering the controller market with the Manta, a premium pad featuring its own 2.79-inch screen and onboard operating system, allowing users to switch profiles, remap buttons and manage settings directly on the device without needing a companion app. The move places Genki alongside recent similar efforts, such as Anbernic's screen-equipped controller, though that device was reportedly let down by poor execution, leaving Genki room to improve on the concept.

The Manta also offers haptic feedback, a headphone jack, and polling rates of up to 8,000Hz wired or 1,000Hz wireless, though it is limited to 3-axis gyro. Other features include drift-free adjustable TMR joysticks, an "Action Timeline" for recording and replaying macros across six buttons, a one-touch keyboard-and-mouse mode for PC use, and an open developer platform called Genki Forge. It will launch soon on Kickstarter and is compatible with Switch 1 and 2, PC, Mac, Android and iOS.
