Connie Nielsen & Stana Katic Join Wyatt Russell-Led Monsterverse Series For Apple TV

Deadline · 3 hours ago

Legendary's forthcoming Monsterverse series for Apple TV has added Connie Nielsen and Stana Katic to its cast, joining lead Wyatt Russell, who also serves as an executive producer. The show expands the Godzilla and Kong film franchise into television, continuing the story of Colonel Lee Shaw, a character previously seen in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and reinforces Apple TV's push into big-budget genre programming built on established cinematic universes.

Details of Nielsen and Katic's characters have not been disclosed. They join a cast that already includes Millie Brady, Pilou Asbaek, Corey Stoll, Ralph Ineson and Nyasha Hatendi. Showrunner Joby Harold's series follows Shaw, played by Russell, on a 1984 covert mission behind enemy lines to stop the Soviets unleashing a giant Titan capable of destroying America and shifting the Cold War balance; Russell's father, Kurt Russell, played an older version of the same character in Monarch. The project is executive produced by Harold and Tory Tunnell for Safehouse Pictures alongside several others, with Toho Co., the rights holder for Godzilla, also producing.
