Flotsam and Jetsam vocalist Eric "A.K." Knutson has spoken out about the use of artificial intelligence in music, arguing that bands should learn to work with the technology rather than resist it. In a new interview with Poland's MetalSide, he explained that the Arizona metal band used AI to help create a few seconds of footage for recent music videos, based on ideas they already had, rather than spending heavily on filming those concepts conventionally.

Knutson cautioned that acts relying too heavily on AI to write songs risk trouble when performing live, warning that musicians who do not understand song structure could struggle to recreate AI-assisted material on stage. He noted AI cannot yet replicate live performance, though he speculated holograms might eventually change that, and stressed the band used no AI on the actual recording of their new album, "Rats In The Temple", due out on 28 August 2026 via Napalm Records, using it only sparingly in video content.
