On 10 August, the Pentagon renamed Joint Base Charleston in South Carolina as Joint Base Lindsey Graham, honouring the late senator and Air Force veteran. The installation said the ceremony was hosted by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and recognised Graham’s long-standing support for the base and the armed forces. The same day, Derby County said negotiations for Lion Sport, the group associated with Saudi official Turki Alalshikh, to buy a controlling interest in the Championship club would not continue. The proposed purchase had received approval from the English Football League and Independent Football Regulator, but Lion Sport withdrew; Derby said it would remain under Clowes Developments and was off the market.

Also on 10 August, the murder trial of Duane “Keffe D” Davis was due to begin in Las Vegas over the 1996 killing of rapper Tupac Shakur. Davis, 63, has pleaded not guilty to allegations that he orchestrated the drive-by shooting in which Shakur was fatally wounded and Marion “Suge” Knight was injured. The case, which had produced no previous conviction, returned to court nearly three years after Davis’s 2023 arrest. Prosecutors contend the shooting followed a confrontation involving Shakur and Davis’s nephew at the MGM Grand; the allegation remains to be tested at trial.
