Ahead of the Sunday, 16 August premiere of his documentary Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear, the Blink-182 drummer has recalled the eerie warning his young daughter Alabama gave him hours before the near-fatal 2008 plane crash that killed four people. Speaking on the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast, Barker said Alabama, then just three or four years old, became inexplicably distressed and warned him "the roof's gonna come off" as he left for a gig in South Carolina, a moment that has haunted him ever since given what followed.

Barker had tried to pull out of the show but was told it was too late to cancel, so he flew down with his best friend Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein. After the gig, a rushed private jet booking bypassed his usual safety checks, and he described a foggy night and unease at the small plane awaiting them, even telling his father he had "an awful feeling". The plane crashed on takeoff on 19 September 2008, killing assistant Chris Baker, bodyguard Charles Still, pilot Sarah Lemmon and co-pilot James Bland; Barker suffered burns to 65% of his body and underwent 27 surgeries, while Goldstein, who survived, died of a drug overdose a year later. Barker did not fly again for 13 years.
