Jamilla Woods Lines Up Heavn 10th Anniversary Tour

Jamila Woods is marking the 10th anniversary of her debut album Heavn with a short US tour this autumn, revisiting a record widely praised on its release for tackling police violence, Black womanhood and self-love over gentle R&B. The Chicago-raised singer announced the run on Instagram, reflecting on how the 2016 album, originally released as a SoundCloud project the year before, helped her build a deeper connection with her city after her former band M&O split.
The tour begins in Los Angeles on 16 November and takes in San Francisco, Portland, Seattle and New York before wrapping up with a hometown date in Chicago on 6 December. Heavn was named among Pitchfork's 50 Best Albums of 2016 following its original release.

Jamila Woods is a singer and songwriter from Chicago who released her debut solo album, Heavn, in 2016, after first putting it out as a free SoundCloud project the year before. The record dealt with themes including police violence, Black womanhood and self-love, set against soft R&B production, and won praise from critics at the time, including a place on Pitchfork's list of the best albums of 2016. Woods had previously been part of the band M&O before going solo.
To mark ten years since Heavn's release, Woods is touring several American cities this autumn, performing the album in full. The trip takes in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle and New York, finishing with a homecoming show in Chicago, the city she has said the album helped her feel more connected to.
