A new documentary, "Neil Peart: No One's Disciple", chronicling the life of late RUSH drummer Neil Peart, will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on 16 September 2026. Directed by Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn, who previously made the 2010 RUSH documentary "Beyond The Lighted Stage", the 96-minute film traces Peart's difficult early years as a musician through to his rise to fame, and marks a significant new tribute from RUSH bandmates Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson.

The documentary features interviews with Lee and Lifeson alongside other acclaimed drummers, plus new live performances of RUSH classics with drummers Stewart Copeland, Danny Carey, Chad Smith and Gavin Harrison taking turns behind the kit in Peart's place. Following the TIFF premiere, there will be a public screening on 19 September, before the film airs on Canada's CBC as part of "The Passionate Eye" series on 23 September. Peart died in January 2020 aged 67 after a three-year battle with brain cancer, a diagnosis he chose to keep private; the film arrives as RUSH tours with a revamped lineup featuring drummer Anika Nilles and keyboardist Loren Gold.
