NEVERMORE Has ‘About Six Ideas’ For Upcoming Album: ‘The Demos Are Now Starting To Flow’

Blabbermouth ·

NEVERMORE guitarist Jeff Loomis has revealed the band has begun writing material for its long-awaited comeback album, telling Germany's Moshpit Passion that songwriting got off to a late start as the reformed group prioritised touring first. He said the current lineup, which made its live debut in Istanbul in April, is now moving forward with demos as it works towards new music under a recently signed deal with Reigning Phoenix Music.

Loomis said he currently has "about six ideas going", ranging from very early sketches to more complete songs, and expects progress to accelerate once new vocalist Berzan Önen relocates to the United States in November, allowing the band to write together in person. He said the group plans to dedicate roughly six months, from October to March, to crafting what he called "the best album of our lives". Loomis also praised Önen and new bassist Semir Özerkan, alongside guitarist Jack Cattoi, as the right fits to carry NEVERMORE forward following the 2017 death of former singer Warrel Dane.

In short

  • NEVERMORE has started writing its comeback album's demos.
  • Jeff Loomis has roughly six song ideas in progress.
  • Full writing push planned for October 2026 to March 2027.

Explained simply

NEVERMORE are an American heavy metal band known for combining heavy guitar riffs with complex arrangements. Guitarist Jeff Loomis is a founding member, and the group’s earlier music featured singer Warrel Dane, who died in 2017.

The band has reunited with a new line-up, including singer Berzan Önen, bassist Semir Özerkan and guitarist Jack Cattoi. Their return matters to longtime listeners because it brings the band back after years away and raises the question of how its new music will carry on its sound.
