Great Britain's Romell Glave and Jeremiah Azu claimed a stunning one-two in the men's 100m final at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, delighting the home crowd at Alexander Stadium a day after team-mate Amy Hunt won the women's 100m title. Glave upgraded the bronze he won in Rome two years ago to gold, while Azu improved on his 2022 bronze to take silver, continuing Britain's dominance in continental sprinting.

Glave, 26, won in 10.09 seconds, becoming only the sixth man to take the European 100m title and the third British winner in the last six editions, after Zharnel Hughes and James Dasaolu. Azu, 25, crossed in 10.16 seconds, having broken 10 seconds for the first time this year and defeated Italy's Lamont Marcell Jacobs, who pulled up injured at halfway. Germany's Owen Ansah took bronze, while Britain's third finalist, Louie Hinchliffe, did not contest the race; Glave said he was aiming for a British clean sweep but called the result "total domination".
