Nicholas Hoult has been cast as Gilderoy Lockhart in the second season of HBO’s “Harry Potter” television series. The role is a prominent one in “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets”, and Hoult’s casting adds another established franchise actor to the adaptation as it prepares to expand beyond its first season.
The series is scheduled to debut on HBO and HBO Max on 25 December, with season one adapting “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”; filming on season two is expected to begin in the autumn. He has now been cast in HBO's ongoing "Harry Potter" television series, which is retelling J.K. Rowling's books one season at a time with a new young cast.
Gilderoy Lockhart is a character from "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets", the second book in the series. He is a boastful, self-promoting wizard who takes up a teaching post at Hogwarts despite being largely incompetent, and was previously played by Kenneth Branagh in the 2002 film version.
