Australian metal band Northlane have revealed that work on their seventh studio album, "Anemoia", began not long after their 2024 EP "Mirror's Edge" and took more than two years to complete. Vocalist Marcus Bridge told interviewer Steve O'G that the extended process was needed to perfect the record's blend of heavy guitars with a nostalgic late-1990s and early-2000s electronic sound, while still keeping it recognisably Northlane. The album marks a significant creative step for the band, who worked with former Bring Me The Horizon member Jordan Fish as executive producer.

Fish, who recently signed a publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music, spent a week in Australia collaborating with songwriter/guitarist Jon Deiley, refining chorus melodies and adding subtle electronic touches without overpowering the band's established sound. The idea for "Anemoia" was reportedly sparked by a DJ set from UK producer Evian Christ, inspiring Deiley to explore trance elements alongside heavy guitar work. Due out on 30 October via independent release, the ten-track album includes "Evian" and "Anemoia" (featuring Dayseeker), and is described as the band's most hopeful record to date.
