South Yorkshire police officers cycle 175 miles to honour colleagues who died on duty
Officers from South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire Police, along with two bereaved families, completed a 175-mile cycling journey as part of the annual UK Police Unity Tour. The ride began at a West Yorkshire training facility and traversed multiple towns across three counties before reaching the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.
The initiative supports Care of Police Survivors, a charity assisting families of officers lost in service. Participants included relatives directly affected by loss, such as the family of Constable Dave Fields, who died responding to an emergency in 2017. Senior leadership described the effort as a meaningful way to honour fallen colleagues and support grieving families.
