Investigation launched as Houghton festival “deeply saddened” by death of woman on-site
Police are investigating the death of a woman found unconscious in a tent at Houghton Festival in north Norfolk. She was pronounced dead on Sunday despite attempts by on-site staff to help, and the festival said it was deeply saddened while supporting the authorities’ investigation.
The death is being treated as unexplained pending a post-mortem examination, although police do not currently believe there were suspicious circumstances; the woman’s family has been informed. Houghton, a 24-hour house and techno festival held at Houghton Hall since 2017, typically attracts about 10,000 people and ran from 6 to 9 August this year.
