The unreleased Xbox Elite Controller 3 may have ended up in an unsuspecting buyer’s hands

Engadget · 2 hours ago

An apparent unreleased Xbox Elite Controller 3 may have been sold to a buyer who believed they were purchasing the older Elite Controller 2 through the OfferUp marketplace. The claim is based on Reddit images that users said matched material seemingly leaked by Brazil’s regulator Anatel in May, although Microsoft has not announced or launched the controller.

The buyer reported that the controller would not connect to an Xbox either wirelessly or by cable, prompting speculation that it could be a developer-kit device rather than a retail model. Reports cited by IGN suggest the Elite Controller 3 could include Wi‑Fi 6, Bluetooth, a 3.5mm jack, two scroll wheels, trigger locks and a pairing button intended to switch quickly between local and cloud gaming. Microsoft last released a new Xbox controller in 2022.

  • An alleged Elite Controller 3 was reportedly sold through OfferUp.
  • Reddit users said its images matched earlier apparent leaks.
  • Microsoft has not officially announced the controller.
