Meccha Chameleon has now sold 20 million copies in two months

Eurogamer · 3 hours ago

Meccha Chameleon, an indie hide-and-seek game released on Steam two months ago, has sold more than 20 million copies, placing it among the year’s biggest gaming successes. Its strong performance reflects the popularity of its social co-operative prop-hunt gameplay, particularly with streamers and players seeking creative multiplayer experiences.

The game reached 15 million sales in its first month, followed by a further five million in the next month, while maintaining roughly 22,000 daily concurrent Steam players. It has also been among the most-played games in the US across Steam, PlayStation and Xbox; recent updates continue despite a short-lived malware issue involving user maps and a hacked Discord server, both of which were resolved.

  • Meccha Chameleon surpassed 20 million sales in two months.
  • It remains widely played despite slower sales growth.
  • Security issues affecting maps and Discord have been resolved.
