Jason Sudeikis made a surprise appearance during Mumford & Sons’ Madison Square Garden concert on 11 August, joining the band to sing the theme from Ted Lasso. The cameo delighted the audience and linked the live performance to the upbeat spirit of the Apple TV series, which Sudeikis co-created and stars in.

Midway through the show, cameras spotted Sudeikis in the crowd before he ran on stage and sang the chorus face-to-face with Marcus Mumford; the pair embraced afterwards. Mumford co-wrote and performs the theme with composer Tom Howe, while the concert also featured Oscar Isaac performing “Fare Thee Well (Dink’s Song)” with the band. Ted Lasso had returned earlier that month for a fourth season centred on Lasso potentially returning to coach Richmond’s new women’s team.
