A 26-year-old man has been charged after a stolen car was pursued by police through Barnsley at speeds of up to 100mph. The incident highlights the risks of dangerous driving in residential areas and followed the reported theft of the vehicle during a burglary.

Police spotted the car being driven suspiciously in Grimethorpe on 7 August and followed it to Kendray, where the driver and passenger abandoned it in a housing estate. Both men were found after attempting to hide in gardens, with help from a police helicopter and dog unit; the 26-year-old faces charges including dangerous driving, while a 24-year-old was released without further action.
