“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is expected to remain the leading film at the North American box office in its third weekend, despite competition from five new nationwide releases. Warner Bros.’ science-fiction mystery “The End of Oak Street”, starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor, is projected to lead the newcomers with an opening of about $20 million to $30 million, but will need strong audience response to justify its sizeable budget.

The Spider-Man sequel is forecast to earn $65 million to $70 million over the weekend, a decline of roughly 55%, after taking $671 million domestically and $1.68 billion worldwide in 12 days. It is expected to pass $2 billion globally, becoming the first film to do so since “Avatar: The Way of Water” in 2022; only seven films have previously reached that milestone. “PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie” is targeting about $20 million from 3,500 North American cinemas, while other new releases include “The Rivals of Amziah King”, “The Wrong Girls” and “The Brink of War”.
