MGM+ has released a trailer for its four-part adaptation of Charles Dickens’s A Tale of Two Cities, starring Kit Harington, François Civil and Mirren Mack. The drama centres on a love triangle unfolding alongside the political turmoil of pre-revolutionary France, giving the classic novel a romantic adventure focus.
Mack plays Lucie Manette, who travels towards Paris after learning that her father may still be alive. Civil’s French émigré Charles Darnay is arrested for treason, prompting Harington’s lawyer Sydney Carton to help secure his release; the series premieres on 6 September, releasing weekly across several international MGM+ territories.

Charles Dickens’s A Tale of Two Cities is a 19th-century novel set in London and Paris around the time of the French Revolution. It follows people whose lives are shaped by political unrest, imprisonment and sharp divisions between rich and poor in France.
