Mini Review: Future Knight (Switch) – Channels The Spirit Of Tiger Handhelds To Great Effect
Nintendo Life’s review finds Future Knight a distinctive and enjoyable Switch action game, chiefly because of its deliberately retro Tiger handheld-inspired visual style and surreal comic-book premise. Although its run-and-gun gameplay is not especially original and some platforming feels awkward, the reviewer considers its personality, well-designed combat and inventive presentation enough to make it a worthwhile arcade-style experience.
Developed jointly by Spain’s Studio Koba and Aeternum Game Studios, the game spans eight countdown-themed biomes and lets players switch between the main hero and Two More, a blob-like companion able to climb walls and reach confined areas. Combat relies on directional shooting, dodge-rolls, melee attacks and careful use of cooldowns, with later sections becoming more demanding despite generous early checkpoints; its sprites are said to look particularly strong on a larger screen.
- Stylish, surreal shooter with strong retro handheld-inspired visuals
- Combat is rewarding despite limited originality
- Better suited to larger screens than handheld mode
