Pokémon Go’s new Explorer Gadget is a digital auto-catcher currently rolling out globally in what appears to be a testing phase. It can automatically catch nearby Pokémon and spin PokéStops while the player is not actively using the app, offering similar functionality to physical accessories such as Pokémon Go Plus+; its final features may still change.

The gadget has daily catch and spin limits that appear to vary between players, uses only standard Poké Balls, and may require the game to be minimised or closed to operate. Players can check its activity and pause it from the in-game icon, while failed catches appear in the journal; it cannot run alongside a physical auto-catcher, which must be reconnected manually afterwards.
