August Burns Red vocalist Jake Luhrs says the band’s new album, “Season Of Surrender”, is heavier and more emotionally charged than its 2023 predecessor, “Death Below”. He described the group as a technical, progressive American metalcore band whose lyrics aim to offer hope and explore meaningful subjects, rather than relying on formulaic themes.

Released on 5 June through Fearless Records, the eleventh album uses carefully built passages to make its breakdowns feel more impactful, according to Luhrs. It includes guest appearances by Mike Hranica, Jamie Hails and Make Them Suffer, while the band says it remains committed to refining its established sound; August Burns Red has amassed 600 million streams and received Grammy nominations in 2016 and 2018.
